APEC EVENT IMPACTS ON CONSUMER BRAND PERCEPTION

This year the global APEC events will be hosted in Sydney.

To manage the possibility of terrorist attacks during the event the Prime Minister has declared the long weekend from the 7-9th September a public holiday.

The intensified media attention and focus on Australia has seen the brand perception index of several national and global brands respond to this important event.

The index measures the value perception of the top brands in their respective category.
The index is a leading indicator for purchase and consumption behaviour of popular FMCG, fashion, automotive and public services brands.

The study revealed that the national food, beauty and health care brands gained value over their global peers, while the fashion and durable goods brands lost ground, at least temporarily. Most severely impacted were the public transport and some financial services brands, as consumers fear increasing congestion and possible disruptions.

Brands respond very sensitively to changes in consumer perception.

Brand Assessment provides a comprehensive performance measurement framework to help executives monitor their brands both, domestically and globally; absolute and relative to category peers.
